These guides are how I do it so please ensure you always refer to the appropriate servicing manual and follow all the safety precautions in there before undertaking any task.
The guides will show you how to use easily available tools and your own garage to carry out some of the tasks you may not have considered doing yourself before. They are written expecting you to be able to use common hand tools and try to clear up some of the jobs that the servicing manuals sometimes aren’t too clear on.
Before taking on any task you will likely need a good selection of hand tools and an outboard engine service stand or some way of mounting your engine in the garage so you can tilt the leg up.
Before you take on any outboard engine maintenance make sure you have a thorough understanding of what you are about to do, if you are not confident, don’t even start, take the engine to somewhere who can carry out the servicing for you. Mistakes can be costly and if you cause significant damage to your engine it may cost more than the value of the engine to repair it.
It goes without saying that you need to make sure all used oils etc are disposed of responsibly.
If you are planning to carry out a job and would like a guide on “How to” do that task, why not get in touch with us via the contact us form and we’ll see what we can do for you..
